GOD OF DANIEL IS TOO MUCH

                                                            Blackson Makhumba B

"Then the king fell down on his face and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation, and odours unto him..... The king answered to Daniel and said. "Of a truth it is that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing you could reveal this secret. Your God is too much." Daniel 2:46-47(Emphasis added by me).

The problem was that wisemen and magicians of Babylon manipulated Nebuchadnezzar's mind by making him think and believe that there was neither a man or  a God on earth who could reveal and interpret the vision which even Nebuchadnezzar himself could not remember (Daniel 2:10-13). Little did they know that a man, Daniel, was among them who had a very big God who knows the deeper most secrets. Did daniel accept the worship by Nebuchadnezzar the king? NOT at all! We are told in verse 47 that the king answered Daniel (that is after refusal of a worship by the king), " (Let me worship you becuase) trurly your God is  a God of gods..." Daniel refused the divine honor because it only belongs to God Most High, not to any man.

By coming to the point of worshipping Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar  showed a total humbleness to the big God of Daniel and respected Daniel His servant. He came to recognize, not only Daniel, but also his God, to be of great power that all wisemen and all gods respectively. Which ruler would leave a man of such a big God out of cabinet? Daniel was promoted to a prime minister, and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were promoted to provincial officers.

 LESSONS NEBUCHADNEZZAR LEARNT

1. Kingdoms of men fade away and are forgoten.

2. The kingdom of God is eternal

3. The glory of human kings is nothing compared to the glory of the kingdom of God.

4. If all other gods cannot reveal secrets, there is only one God odf daniel that can do.

5. if the God of daniel can reveal secrets and give interpretations, then, He must be the God of all gods, and the Lord of all kings.

WHAT DO WE LEARN?

1. Impossible situations expose the futility of human wisdom and power of false gods and religions.

2. God still protects and cares for His people and is merciful when punishing them.

3. Even in a corrupt community, God still has remnants.
